If Suz is our heart and soul then Brandi Schlabach is our entertainment. No just kidding. She is more like our collective brain. She is the behind the scenes calendar, reminder post its, Facebook messaging and coordination whiz kid. She is that annoying voice ruining all the fun with important business propositions and T-shirt quotes. She's the one that makes the whole thing make sense. You probably have no idea what she looks like because last time you saw her she had her face buried in her phone or a computer screen.
Brandi met Suz almost 7 years ago and made an instant connection. They share not only a unique sense of humor but an unmatched love of crafty things. Through the years they have shared and taught each other many new skills. This special relationship gives The PolkaDot Cupcake a unique balance. It is an ebb and flow of ideas whether they end up coming to life or not.
Brandi is a full time stay at home mom to two beautiful little boys. She has a background in retail and food service. Her dream has always been to operate a small local business with close friends and family. She is a Capricorn and was born January 19th. True to form she is bullheaded and very outspoken. She is mildly obsessed with organization and that may very well be her actual calling.
Her love of creating and newly acquired mom status ultimately lead her into the kitchen. She will tell you that by no means is she a great cook but baking has always come easy. Her grandmother has always been an inspiration. As proof of how much she has imparted her sheet cake is the only cake Brandi will eat. The lack of love for cake around here is keeping us from all gaining 100 lbs by the way! Brandi did work for the bakery at Marsh for a short time but if asked will tell you Suz taught her almost everything she now knows.
The PolkaDot Cupcake is her home away from home. It has become a place for all of her creative drive and business knowledge. It is a place for new and old relationships. It is a place where people come together to share and create.

Who Is The PolkaDot Cupcake?
Twenty-five or so weeks ago Suzan Woodke sat down at her cousin Mary Voorhies, of Get Baked In Delphi, house on her birthday and decorated her very first set of cookies. The rest, as you know, is history. Her interests grew into cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops, and she completely fell in love. Thus, The PolkaDot Cupcake was born.
Well, kind of... The PolkaDot Cupcake started 5 years ago as a place for Suz to show off her crafts. She loved the name for its cute, girly quality; the baking came much later. It must have been fate.
Now that you know how we came to be, and what we do, we want you to know who we are. The PolkaDot Cupcake is 7 women who all came together in various ways, and forged lifelong friendships. So meet the ladies of The PolkaDot Cupcake.
Suz is our founder, and for all intents and purposes, our matriarch. She is like a mom to most of us... or our actual mom. She is the creative force behind everything you see and taste. She isn't exactly fond of sweets, cake in particular, though she'd make and exception for cherry chip. Despite her dislike for sweets, baking is her true calling. Her lack of professional training hasn't stopped her from being a self-taught wonder.
She is currently a Home Health Care nurse specializing in end of life care. It is also something she loves, but knows that after the man she is working for passes away, she won't have it in her heart to try again. She is a Logansport, Indiana native and is hoping to see the business thrive in our historic downtown district one day. She was born June 30th and is a Cancer. She is a homebody and makes every place warm, cozy and inviting. Her favorite colors are pink and green, so if a lot of it pops up in our designs, you'll know why. Also the Sock Monkeys and Hello Kitty's are her claim, too.
Suz is our backbone. She may be a Medical Administrator working in Home Health Care, but she is a baker and a mom at heart. She is what brought all of us together, and is the constant glue keeping the bond strong. Her dream is to open a bakery that feels like home. A place to make treats that make everyone feel special. We are a unique group with a wonderful woman at the helm. Suz can't wait to see all of her girls at home in their very own shop, spending time together doing what they love. She is the heart of our PolkaDot Cupcake dream.
